Maybe I should just turn update_pane_bounds into create_draw_plan.
In which case I can update the App framework to not bother redrawing if the plan never changes, which would save lots of power..
Just only redraw on input events. I'm not building a game here. Though, hmm, the one bit of animation is the cursor blinking.
