The [[Montgomery County Food Security Task Force]] was created in April 2020, in response to the food insecurity crisis created by COVID-19. The FSTF is a government and nonprofit partnership led by the Montgomery County Food Council (FC), the Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHS), and the Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (OEMHS). The response that grew from FSTF collaboration was a public-private partnership between three important sectors: the local food access providers who desperately needed resources and support, the Montgomery County Government, and generous private donors. Since May 2020, the FSTF in close collaboration with the Food Council has administered 25 distinct programs guiding the expenditure of $24M in disaster relief funding, brought together hundreds of stakeholders, and crafted, revised, and implemented a strategy to sure-up the food system in the County.
