This would be nice alright, but implementing OAuth2 when you have 1000 accounts open is probably a little presomptuous. That said, it probably doesn’t cost much to implement, and hopefully will need to be implemented at some point. One thing I’d love to do in the long term would be a Nest federation, and OAuth will definitely be very useful then.
“Nest federation” means that everything will be open source, and everybody will host their own. But we’re not there yet.
It would be nice if the discourse.pijul.com instance would allow logging in “with Nest” (e.g. using credentials for the Nest to login to discourse), to avoid depending on some other third-party to provide SSO.
