Another thing I want to do is signal conflicts better, in particular when a change has been amended in the remote (like “you seem to have this patch, the remote doesn’t have it, and it’s in conflict”).
(or at least cleanly error out, instead of “sometimes failing, sometimes not”, even if nothing got really uploaded, even if it should)
